Hi guys, it's Mrs. Pfefferlen here, happy Monday I hope that you have all enjoyed a great weekend. It is a big week it is officially Staff Appreciation Week and so we're starting right off with kindness at the forefront and we would like to thank our students and parent community for showing our staff how much they are appreciated. We're grateful for the delicious snacks, the balloon arch, the words of appreciation on all of the padlets and the variety of gift cards and items that our staff gets to choose from. The fact that our students and parents took time and spent their resources to let us know how much we are appreciated means so much to us and we're so grateful for these kind gestures.  We are one week into adjusting to our new schedule and having over 90% of our students back on campus. As with most things when we try something new we had some opportunities to learn and improve. Some students didn't have enough time to eat, we had to figure out the most efficient way to deliver hot lunches, the number of cars in carpool has increased and there have been a few other little glitches that needed adjustment as well so we have sure appreciated your flexibility as we've worked to improve our processes. We've moved a couple of the play areas.  We've now added some new equipment to them and to be able to continue to have these opportunities we are counting on each and every one of you students to help keep our community safe.  So please remember when you are walking to your assigned area, you need to stay with your own cohort and not intermingle with other cohorts. When you're eating it's really important to keep that 3 foot distance because you have your masks off during that time and when you're finished in your play areas please make sure that you're returning all that equipment to the wagon or the bins.  The bean bags can be stored right on top of the cornhole games and last please be alert and listen for your name during carpool, that is a huge help. I want to just take a moment and acknowledge the fact that it's great to be back on campus but it's not the same as pre covid and we know that and we know how badly you want to be able to see all of your friends and enjoy all the things that we used to do and although things continue to improve, we still need to be diligent and we still need to adhere to all of our safety protocols and we're all hoping that things will be returning to normal sooner rather than later and even though it's not the same it's a new we've created a new normal and we still need to continue to be grateful that we are back on campus we are back together and we're able to work together on projects like the 8th grade Poetry Cafe which turned out absolutely amazing I want to congratulate Mrs. Mangano's class for being the ninth caller last week with the secret word they celebrated on Friday with a popsicle party and in recognition of Staff Appreciation Week this week the secret word is "Appreciation" hold on to that word it might be of use to you. We have some birthdays to announce today we have Joseph in kindergarten and Jackson in first grade and tomorrow we have Collier in 3rd grade, Mason in 5th grade and Ariel in 8th grade we wish you all a very happy birthday and a wonderful year ahead and I can't leave you without a quick tip to help stop the spread of covid the next date for onsite Covid testing at CSMH is May 12th please be sure to sign up we are recommending that everyone coming to campus tests Kinder through 6th grade we are recommending once a month and our middle school students we are recommending they test every other week so thank you so much I wish you all a great week of learning I wish all of our staff an amazing week of feeling appreciated and with that I leave you take care and I will see you again soon
