Good morning guys it's Mrs. Pfefferlen here happy Monday I hope that you've all enjoyed a great weekend as of today we have met another one of our milestones offering a schedule that we plan on maintaining for the remainder of the school year provided that our county doesn't change tiers. As of today we are offering students in 1st through 8th grade full day in person instruction with minimum days on Tuesdays and Thursdays we have over 90% of our students back on campus and we are celebrating. A lot of work went into preparing please be sure to say a big thank you to your teachers today they have been putting in endless hours getting ready and I also want to give a huge shout out to Mr. Oscar, Mr. Sutton, Mrs. Gill, Ms. Nancy, Ms. Paula and Mrs. C for many hours of tireless work preparing our campus for this last transition of the year. So let's start off by talking about my favorite acts of kindness. We needed support this past week from our parents and community to ensure that we had access to all of the Prop 51 funds that were there for us. Our community stepped up sending emails speaking at the board meeting, staying on the meeting late into the night and as a result the MHUSD Board of Trustees voted in favor of giving CSMH access to the full amount of prop 51 funding which will allow us to take advantage of modernising and giving our campus the update and TLC that it deserves so we are so grateful for the continued support of our community. Now that so many of us are back on campus full day awesome changes are coming and we have been thinking and working really hard to figure out ways to allow students to have more access to different areas on campus as well as more space to be active with this privilege however comes great responsibility so we are counting on each and every student to follow our rules and our safety protocols to help keep our whole Community safe before your lunch period each day your teacher will remind you what area your group has been assigned to. Areas are marked with bright orange signs and to give you opportunities to try out different activities and equipment the areas will change every day so you're going to be you're going to need to be sure know each day where you're going. When moving to your assigned areas students need to stay with their own cohort .  We cannot have cohorts intermingling. When you are eating you're going to be remaining seated at your outdoor areas and you will be taking off your masks only while you eat so when you're eating it's really important that you maintain that 3 foot distance from any of your classmates because your masks will be off otherwise we will all continue to be wearing masks on campus at all other times. During your lunch period, you're going to have 10 minutes to eat and after that you'll have 20 minutes of free time or playtime so you'll move from where you're seated in your Outdoor Classroom when time is up you will quickly clean up your area and wipe down your table and you will then go to the area that you have been assigned. You are as we said your recreational activities will rotate from each day from day to day so you'll have lots of opportunities to try different things after your 20 minutes of free time or playtime an assigned staff member will let you know that time is up and it's time to go back to class.  We then ask that you'll put your equipment away and leave your areas the way that you found them. Bean bags for the corn holes can be placed right on top of the corn holes we're asking that students please do not walk on the corn hole sets or the spike ball sets and please do not leave equipment out on the grass don't worry if you don't remember all the things that I just said because your teachers are going to be reviewing the rules and protocols with you each day This weekend we had lots of nice bikes, toys, books, furniture and other fun things that were handed off from people who no longer needed them to people who welcomed them so these exchanges helped raise funds for CSMH and also helped our Earth by reducing waste and recycling so we want to thank all of our community members who participated in our Sweet Deals fundraiser. We're really impressed speaking of recycling of the cool items that have been posted on our padlet such as a picture frame some goggles, some masks they've all been created out of recycled materials if you're looking to help the Earth by making useful items be sure to check out the bracelet that Kourtney made using springs from clothespins and check out the bird feeders made by Ellie and Savannah along with a lot of other awesome creations. Before I move on to the birthday announcements I want to give you a secret word of the week. The word is flexibility. This word has been really important this year as we've needed everyone's continued flexibility and we need to continue to count on your willingness to change and or compromise.  I'm not going to give you any more information but be sure to keep this word in mind this week as it will be of use to you. We have some birthdays to celebrate we have Abigail in 3rd grade and Evan and John in 4th grade and tomorrow we have Addison in 5th grade. We wish all of you a very happy birthday and a wonderful year ahead and my last but not least my tip for helping to stop spread Covid and keep our community safe this Wednesday April 28th we have on-site Covid Testing and we encourage everyone who's coming on to campus to be tested on a regular basis Our recommendation is that students in Kinder through 6th test once a month and middle schoolers test every two weeks so please sign up for a test on Wednesday.
