two more touchdowns during the flag football tournament!
Volleyball - Hedyeh Tirgardoon for her inspirational
leadership last week and all season long.
Congratulations
to all of our outstanding athletes for a wonderful Fall season.
Our
Cheetah teams played their final games last week, even though
many rival teams were phoning in requests to take one more shot
at our UN defeated 8th grade girl's volleyball team. We had
to end our season somewhere so we did it on the court of the
Sacred Heart Spartans. Our 8th grade girl's finished off the
Spartans in a tough three game match which showcased the consistent
serving of Katie Chagnon, Devyn Gunsky and Sarah Lewis. Outstanding
play from Taylor Duarte, Hedyeh Tirgadoon and Alyssa Smedlund
kept the championship quest alive. Congratulations to our Lady
Cheetahs and to Coach Chagnon for another undefeated season!
In
our last game of the regular season,, our 8th grade boy's flag
football team stunned the Sacred Heart Spartans by a score of
36-16 at the Cheetah home field. The Cheetah's took an early
lead and never looked back thanks to the accurate passing of
quarterback Tony Mihai, who threw three touchdowns passes to
receivers Ty Miller, Vince Czeropski and Ryan Sarl. Mihai also
ran for two more scores contributing to five of the team's six
touchdowns. Our defense held the high-scoring Spartans to only
two touchdowns. Defender Albert Thai returned a late game interception
for the Cheetah's final touchdown. (Article contributed by:
Ty Miller)
With
that win, the Cheetah's entered the season-ending tournament
ranked fourth in a very competitive league. The tournament was
Hosted by Charter School and played at the Morgan Hill Soccer
Complex. Coach Mike Miller led the Cheetah's to a decisive victory
over the Oakwood Hawks, who had defeated the Cheetahs twice
in the regular season. The Cheetahs went on to defeat the Southside
Bulldogs and then the Crossroad Eagles to earn a spot in the
championship game against the Spring Grove Tigers. The Tigers
were undefeated in the regular season and defeated the Cheetahs
20 to 6. Congratulations on the second place finish! A huge
special thank you to Cheetah player Clayton Carlson who filled
in on the Crossroads Eagles so they could continue in the tournament
after one of their players had to leave! You Rock!
Thank
you to Russ Chagnon, Mike Miller Nancy Rhoads and Chris Valenzuela
for taking on the Volleyball and Flag Football teams. We had
over 45 eighth and seventh grade athletes participate! We could
not have done it without you and your dedication to the Cheetah
Athletic program! You So rock!
